At Dentalspa we pride ourselves on our preventative dental services and have a very active children’s program aimed at educating and preventing dental disease in young children and teens. With the announcement of the new Government Dental incentive- the Child Dental Benefit Scheme, it can be somewhat confusing about what it involves and what it means for your family. We have been highly anticipating the launch of this program and have answered some of the more common questions you may have about this program.
Who is eligible?
The Child Dental Benefit Scheme is available for children aged 2- 17 years of age during the course of the year and receive a Government payment- like the Tax Benefit A. Once you receive your voucher, you are eligible for that Calender year- even if you stop receiving Government payments or turn 18!
When does it start?
Eligible families will be sent a letter from January 2014 and can be used for two Calender years. This means if you get your voucher in 2014, you have until December 2015 to use the benefit funds.
How do I pay?
At the start of the appointment, please let reception staff or the dental professional you are seeing know that you are using the Child Dental Benefit Scheme so that appropriate codes are used for your payment.
On the day of your appointment, payment will be required in full. An itemised receipt, using the appropriate codes will be issued. It is your responsibility to take this into Medicare, who will refund you the fee for the Child Dental Benefit Scheme. In some cases, it will be a full refund!
What treatment is included?
Preventative services: dental check-ups, clean, fluoride applications, fissure sealants and x-rays.
Other treatments included are: fillings, extractions, pulp treatment- root canal, pulpotomy and dentures.
Please note orthodontic and cosmetic procedures are not included in this program. Some codes, will have limitations in use and will be explained by Dental Spa staff at time of your visit.
Treatment can be provided by our friendly Dentists and Oral Health Therapist- who has a particular interest in kid’s dentistry.
How do I know what benefits remain after a visit?
The remaining balance can be checked after each dental visit and will be capped at $1000 over a two year period. Once you have reached this limit, any other treatment will be at the patients cost. The balance can be checked by visiting humanservices.com.au/npos or by called Human Services on 132 150.
